Charities. Do you donate regular what's your preferred charity.
Out of curiosity how many WHOers donate to the Royal British Legion and poppy appeal?
They have 300 million in the bank. But they do good work that most public would not know.

Fuck all to do with West Ham but who has a generous mob.

Re: Charities. Do you donate regular what's your preferred charity.
Bumping this thread as it's Christmas.

https://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/new-belvedere-house-flagship-london-hostel-for-veterans-in-crisis-reopens-after-82m-revamp-a3931826.html

27 Victoria square is veterans aid address. They turn no ex services away.
The new belevedere house also has a training kitchen, IT suite, gym and therapy rooms as well as areas for reading, recreation and reflection. An outside space is surrounded by sensory “living walls”.

Veterans who spend time at New Belvedere House (NBH) are given nutrition advice, money management classes, CV-writing help and benefits advice. They are also helped with skills training, education or work placements.

An average of £9,000 a year is spent on each resident. Typically veterans stay for around nine months living independent lives with life skills .
My Mums queens and then hospice for palative care excuse spelling. Yes I have friends and sofas. But I have never done resettlement never claimed a penny from social in my life.

The pop in poppy centre haig house borough high street will give food tokens and oyster. Also they don't turn anyone away. But can't help with housing.

Please please any homeless who is genuinely homeless and ex Military. Addictions or not. This is worth more than any money you can give them.
One phone call and directions
08000126867. 27 Victoria square. You will not be helping them keep warm for 5 minutes with a sandwich and tea. That address will change their lives completely.

Sorry for preaching. It's fucking cold. No veteran deserves to be homeless. Nobody in fact. We were not born or built to be homeless.

Hope at least one of you meets an ex veteran who is lost and you can be proud to have saved them.

Coyis.

First game this year at Palace. Fuck the stadium. All about the loyal West Ham Army and winning or for me not respecting the point and playing to win.

Don't get me wrong The Royal Legion poppy is a must donation. But if you didn't know please look up Veterans aid as a possible donation in the future as every penny is reinvested. They raise big funds from fines from city companies something to do with libor fines. But every penny they receive is reinvested and admin and staff paid by city donations not your money.

Thank you for Reading.

Still unsure how supporting animal charities makes someone a sap

Good for you. If you want to appear a total sap that's probably the most efficient way to do it.

I only donate money to the local charities really.

Both me an the mrs also donate our time to charity as well The wife supports local Autistic Charities by helping families with newly diagnosed children and I spend time at the Cancer Ward in Chelmsford that treated me 10 years ago.

That's very civil of you. However you might consider putting that money towards some sort of education so you don't come across as such a simpleton. Your need is clearly greater.

"So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honoured by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full."

Shut up you tight cunt.

And what sort of sap pays money to these fucking animal charities anyway? Might as well throw it down the drain.

Re: Charities. Do you donate regular what's your preferred charity.
I pay a fortune in charity taken directly from my salary since the age of 15. Now it is deducted from my pension. I also pay huge sums when I buy deisel and other goods, and another big wedge when I buy cigarettes for my wife. I have been paying all this out now for 56 years.

It's called taxation and I don't mind paying it (Except for that bit which keeps the Royal Family in wealth beyond the dreams of avarice, and legal aid for foreigners trying to avoid extradition).I therefore think that is quite sufficient for one person and do not feel the need to donate any more..

Direct debit....
Rspca
Save the children
Rnib

Raised thousands for movember over the years.
Buy several poppies.

Always donate to cancer and dementia charities whenever I see the tins (to be fair I'm more than happy to drop a few coins in most charity boxes)

You should always try to help out those that need it.
There but for the grace of God etc

Good on you Sold. See you in a different light now. Not many think of SSFA.
Thank you to all all who donate to the Royal British legion. I'm on a sabbatical from Teaching and if it wasn't for them id be awkward imposing on sofas whilst not at queens hospital. They are keeping me safe warm and a new beginning in my life with further training, support with my Mum, and referred me to a first class doctor who empathise with ptsd and other things. Veterans Aid keep soldiers off the street. Every penny reinvested.
I'm dubious of band aid , even comic relief. The salaries they make. And see it as self publicity for the stars involved. If they chipped in their millions and the charities didn't have ridiculous running costs and salaries there would be more in the pot.
Likewise how come Crisis charge 30£ for a meal sponsor yet the great Salvation Army 20£. There are pubs and landlords who do Xmas lunch for homeless for free.
Veterans Aid. If you feel that no veteran should be homeless.
Thank you for supporting the Royal British Legion. They are working miracles for me and many. Only let down is 300 million in bank and they have stopped housing grants.
If you meet a homeless ex soldier please send them to Haig House Borough High street. They will get a coffee and all the support possible . It's a poppy appeal pop in centre. Paid by you . But they issue food and help all. They only need their army number. Maybe over Xmas you'll meet one who's genuine. Nicest thing you could do is the bus fare to get them to London Bridge.
